Alaska - Day One

We awoke on August 24th to a cool morning. It was cooler than we'd been having in New Mexico but not too cold, around 50 or so. The view of the Chena River outside the dining-room of the Pikes Waterfront Lodge was intriguing - so I took a picture.

Our Cruise Tour to Alaska

On August 23, 2011, we started on our Princess cruise-tour (or should I say tour-cruise since we toured first then cruised) to Alaska.
This was the most tiring and boring day of the whole trip.  We boarded a Delta flight in Albuquerque, NM and took off at 6:15 a.m. After less than two hours we landed in Salt Lake City where we had an almost two hour layover.  The next flight took us to Minneapolis/StPaul.  - We went backwards one time-zone and flew for about 2 hours.  Here we had an almost four hour layover.  Then we flew to Fairbanks, Alaska - a flight of almost six hours, arriving at 8:15 p.m. Alaska time (10:15 Mountain time.)  Total hours flying ~ 10. Total hours "traveling" -  16.

Our first plane (taken from within the ABQ airport.) John is reflected in the window, too.

The Lily Pad - June Formula Challenge

This is my take on the June Formula challenge.  I used products from Jazzmin's Sunkissed kit, RYoung's Plain Addict3 and AWolf's Paper Strips.

June 2011 Challenge for ACOT

The challenge was to create a layout about something that makes you happy.  For me, it's RETIREMENT.  I used the Artsy Layered Template 25 by Anna Aspnes, and various papers and elements from SAS's Making Memories and Tranquility kits.

Hopefully I'll be posting more

I'm RETIRED!  With any luck, there will be more posts in the future.  Got one challenge I'm working on and the retirement layout to do (2 birds with 1 stone, of course.)

Found something I did last year

I haven't put all my 'creations' on my blog.  Just discovered this two page entry from Jessica Spragues Pen Tablet Basics class.

This shows our trip to Phoenix in 2009 when we visited with grandchildren (Tanner and Kennady) and toured the area.

Digi-In-Deeper - Lesson 1

First lesson of the Digi-In-Deeper class by Jessica Sprague.  We learned how to create a photo mask using brushes, create a polkadot pattern brush, extract an item from a photograph, create two-tone stripes and a starburst pattern and how to tweak letter spacing (kerning.)

Log Your Memory - Week 1 Challenge

Hope I'm not too late - but I think they start on Mondays.

Supplies I used: Shimelle Lane - Top Ten Lists, Green Bulb Gang - the flourishes in the corners, and Brandy Buffington - Destination Anywhere.  The handwriting is my own using a Bamboo Fun and photoshop brush setting (hard, round, don't remember the size)  The 2011 is modified using Photoshop CS5.  The picture of a person is obviously me, the digital scrap kit preview is the mini version of my Land of Enchantment kit that I hope to have finished for the centennial next year.  The picture of the tall ship was taken on our 2010 cruise that I want to get the videos put into a show using Premier Elements 9.  Lots to learn this year and lots to lose as well (weight and clutter.)  Wish me luck.  Francine

One Little Word - Health

I'm signed up for the One Little Word class with Big Picture Scrapbooking Classes.  Ali Edwards is the instructor.  My word for the year is HEALTH. I'm also trying to do the one picture a week related to my word.  The first picture will also be the picture at the beginning of the album.  Now I have to go get the tripod so I can take the picture of me in the kitchen where a lot of my HEALTH missteps occur.
